CYS Board of DirectorsPadma Gargeya Padma Gargeya has been a CYS board member since 2006, and has been a parent volunteer since 2004 when her son and daughter joined CYS. Besides serving on the board, every year she schedules and organizes two community concerts at bay area senior centers for the string ensemble groups. About 70-80 CYS Junior and Intermediate string ensemble musicians participate at each of these community concerts, taking music to appreciative senior citizens who cannot travel and attend our concerts. Padma also serves as a parent volunteer during CYS concerts and auditions. A technologist by profession, Padma has been involved with a few non-profit organizations over the years besides CYS. Music (western as well as Indian) is held in high esteem in Padma's household, where almost everyone has studied at least two distinct forms. Participation in different CYS groups, culminating in the senior orchestra has provided memorable musical experiences and lasting friendships for her children. Having been involved closely with CYS as a parent, volunteer and board member, Padma believes that it is doing a wonderful job of providing a world class musical experience for young talented musicians. |
