Executive Director

Jim Hogan is now in his 27th year as Executive Director of the California Youth Symphony. He has a broad background in both business and the arts. He holds a masters degree in arts administration from Golden Gate University and a bachelors degree from Northwestern University. He has been a consultant for a number of local arts organizations, such as the San Francisco Concert Orchestra, and he served as a consultant for the Festival of Indonesia, a celebration of Indonesia's cultural heritage which was held throughout the United States in 1990-92. As a volunteer, Mr. Hogan is president of two Bay Area arts organizations: Gamelan Sekar Jaya, an internationally recognized group dedicated to the study and performance of Balinese music and dance, and Crosspulse, an interdisciplinary arts presenting organization under the artistic direction of Keith Terry.
