Message From Our Music Director
Welcome to the extraordinary world of the California Youth Symphony! As Music Director of this amazing musical organization, I would like to invite you to learn more about our numerous programs, orchestras, and ensembles. The California Youth Symphony is the oldest independent youth symphony in California, with a long tradition of music-making at the highest level. For more than half a century, CYS has been at the forefront of the youth symphony scene, providing talented young musicians with the opportunity to perform symphonic literature of the great masters. Rave reviews from the press, international acclaim on numerous tours, and high quality recordings are only a small part of the CYS success story. Whether we are performing Mahler symphonies in France or Japan, Strauss tone-poems in Austria or Australia, or Prokofiev and Stravinsky ballets for our dedicated audiences here in the Bay Area, we guarantee orchestral music-making at breathtakingly polished and professional levels. I am very proud of the growth of our program in the 18 years that I have had the honor of being Music Director. We offer two full symphony orchestras, as well as preparatory ensembles in both strings and winds. For the finest orchestral experience and training available, the California Youth Symphony continues to lead the way.
