HOLIDAY CONCERT: WIND SYMPHONY, ASSOCIATE ORCHESTRA, SENIOR ORCHESTRA
The Associate and Senior Orchestras, conducted by Leo Eylar, and the CYS Wind Symphony, conducted by Pete Nowlen, will present the annual Holiday Concert at San Mateo Performing Arts Center on December 7, 2025. Once again the orchestras and Wind Symphony will offer the audience a pleasing mix of classical and holiday favorites.
The Wind Symphony will feature Timothy Mahr's Suite for Band, Nubia Jaime-Donjuan's Tundra, A Vaughan Williams Christmas, and Alan Silvestri's Concert Suite from the Polar Express. A special treat features our combined Wind Symphony and Associate Orchestra percussion sections in a performance of Andrew Balent's A Dance on Three Legs and the Senior Orchestra percussion section performance of Eric Rath's Escape Artist all conducted by CYS Percussion Director Artie Storch.
Highlights from the orchestras include selections from Bernstein's West Side Story, Smetana's The Moldau, Borodin's Polovetsian Dances, and a collection of holiday favorites!
You will also hear flutist Yongrong Chen, Graduating Senior Concerto Competition winner, perform the opening movement of Ibert's Flute Concerto!
Admission is free, and no advanced ticket reservations are required!
