Wind Symphony Solo Competition

The CYS Wind Symphony Solo Competition is open to any member of the CYS Wind Symphony for the current season. The winner of the Solo Competition will perform in the Coda Concert on Sunday, May 17th at 6:00 PM.

You may audition with any of the pieces listed below for your instrument.

Competition Date: February 8, 2026
Where: Almond Elementary School
Time: 1:00pm-3:00pm
Accompanist: Not required, though highly recommended!
Dress Code: Casual
Registration Deadline: January 11, 2026

Some of the links below take you to where you can purchase the solo part for the piece. Others take you to the band arrangement we will use if a winner is playing that piece. YOU DON'T NEED TO PURCHASE THE BAND ARRANGEMENT! Instead, call the publisher (Barnhouse) to order your solo part separately. For pieces that are standard for your instrument, you may use whatever edition your teacher suggests. Go to Youtube or the links below to hear recordings of the various pieces as you make your choices. If you see a piece listed for another instrument – but it also works (in the same key) for your instrument, please check with the maestro and it may be possible to audition on that part.
