Wind Ensembles

Interim Conductor | Anthony Lanzino

The CYS Wind Ensemble program contains two groups: the Wind Ensemble and Chamber Winds. Symphonic bands feature woodwind, brass and percussion instruments and play a wide variety of music that is similar to symphony orchestras but without strings. Their primary objective is to impart top-notch training to students, honing their skills and musicianship through demanding yet rewarding performances of complex musical pieces. As these students advance, they develop the confidence and musical maturity required to join the ranks of the Wind Symphony or become members of the wind section in the highly regarded CYS Advanced Orchestras.

The CYS Wind Ensembles perform two to three concerts in beautiful performance halls on the Peninsula. The first performance is in early December, and the final performance is in early June.

Sunday afternoons (beginning 9/10/23):
Chamber Winds: 1:30 - 3:00 PM
Wind Ensemble: 3:15 - 5:15 PM

Rehearsal schedule changes are at the discretion of the Director

During the season, sectional workshops are held once per concert cycle, led by prominent musicians in the Bay Area.
