Tour Preview Concert

You will definitely want to mark your calendars for this event, as CYS prepares to travel to Latvia, Estonia, Finland, and Sweden for the very first time in its 66-year history. Gershwin, Copland, and Bernstein, three of the titans of American music in the 20th century, are highlighted in our tour preview concert. Our featured soloist on tour, Parker Van Ostrand, delighted CYS audiences last year with his brilliant performance of Beethoven’s Piano Concerto no. 2. He returns to the CYS stage to play Gershwin’s Concerto in F, long considered to be Gershwin’s magnum opus for piano and orchestra. The orchestra will also open each concert with Dvořák’s energetic and exuberant Carnival Overture, a tour-de-force of orchestral virtuoso writing. Please join us as we say “Farewell” (in four languages, no less!) and head to the Baltics & Scandinavia with this stunning program of American and Czech masterpieces!

On this day, CYS will also select its Paris Benefit Raffle winner. The CYS Benefit Raffle is a fabulous opportunity to win valuable prizes while helping our orchestra and its members fund the 2018 Baltics and Scandinavia Tour.  If you have not yet purchased raffle tickets for this event and would like to find out more about raffle program, please click on the raffle ticket image to the right.
