Dylan Chua

Associate Orchestra Concerto Competition Winner

Dylan Chua is a 14-year-old 8th grader attending Iron Horse Middle School at San Ramon. He began learning violin at 6 years old and is currently learning with Mrs. Ju-Yi Peng. This year marks Dylan’s third year in CYS. Dylan started in CYS’s Intermediate Strings (Virtuosi Strings) ensemble and now serves as the Associate Orchestra’s concertmaster. Dylan has also participated in California’s All-State Junior High String Orchestra in 2023 and participated again in 2024. Dylan also plays piano, on which he won third prize in the 2022 American Protégé and performed at Weill Hall at Carnegie Hall. Additionally, Dylan passed the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) Grade 8 in piano performance with merit. Dylan also engages in school musical programs like jazz band and string orchestra. Outside of Dylan’s musical activities, he enjoys reading fantasy books and watching movies.
